Following our second meeting, JPF decided to form working committees to build our organization and implement our vision for Jefferson Park. These committees are constantly evolving as duties and responsibilities, as well as mission becomes clearer. If you have an interest in serving on any committee or creating a new committee, please contact us.
Our working committees are:
The Bylaws committee will be responsible for drafting our governing document and rules. The committee will also be responsible for incorporating JPF as a registered non-profit and applying for favorable tax status under IRS Code 501c(3). Marie MacDonald chairs the committee.
As the Bylaws committee completes its work, it is expected to transition into a membership committee to oversee membership services.
This committee comprises members interested in urban planning, tactical urbanism, economic development and similar issues in the community. Susanna Ernst Suerth chairs the committee.
There is one sub-committee, Participatory Budgeting. This subcommittee represents JPF on the 45th Ward Participatory Budgeting program and will help JPF recommend and support projects that benefit the community.
The Fundraising & Service Committee is responsible for developing partnerships with local non-profit charity organizations and other groups to the betterment of our community. Sam Wertime chairs the committee.
If you are interested in fundraising ideas or opportunities, please email us at email@example.com.
The Livability & Attractiveness Committee is concerned with the beautification of Jefferson Park. Initiatives it has led include the Metra Twitter Campaign to force Metra to clean the Jefferson Park Metra station, the Spring Clean & Green event, and flowers at the post office. Heidi Osterhout chairs the committee.
The Social Committee is responsible for fun. This committee will help plan our monthly meeting locations, neighbors night out events, pub/restaurant crawls, local meetups, family picnics and other social activities to bring our membership and the community together. Rolando Rodriguez chairs the committee.
If you have an idea for other committees or areas of opportunity for JPF to engage in, let us know.
