DESCRIPTION:Jefferson Park Forward’s Arts Committee is thrilled to announce its second collaboration with Weston’s Coffee & Tap – an art show featuring the work of local artist\, Jessie Smith-Larson.  \n\n\n\nPlease join us on Saturday March 30 from 1-3pm for our opening reception featuring light refreshments provided by Weston’s.  \n\n\n\nJessie’s work will be displayed on Weston’s walls from March 23 through May 31.   \n\n\n\nIn her paintings\, sculptures\, and installations\, Jessie Smith-Larson creates fossilized stories of humanity. The moments that go unnoticed or become obscured. The end result is an exquisite\, complicated story told\, much like earth formations\, through layers\, deep crevices\, and blankets of time. \n\n\n\nBorn in Panama and raised in Miami\, Jessie Smith-Larson resides in Chicago.

DESCRIPTION:The JPF Community Development Committee will be meeting Monday\, February 12. Meeting time is 7:00 PM and is held at Eden United Church of Christ\, 5051 W. Gunnison St. The agenda is as follows: \nAgenda\n1. Farnsworth School will be finally receiving its long-awaited campus renovation that was a PB-45 approved project a couple years ago. The menu projects that year also included a safety bump-out on Central at Balmoral to assist the many Farnsworth students who cross Central every day. JPF should consider writing a letter to CDOT urging that bump-out be constructed\, if not at that location\, but perhaps a block farther north at Central and Catalpa. The CD committee will need to collect information to emphasize the need in order to persuade CDOT to move on this project. \n2. Similarly\, there have been a number of accidents at the intersection of Foster and LeClaire where vehicles have hit the day care center on the NW corner. IDOT has jurisdiction of this location\, and we need to discuss a letter from JPF to them urging increased safety measures be taken. \n3. Update on Popeye’s Alley. Movement is underway. Do we have any suggestions on how the space will look?

SUMMARY:Bylaws Committee Meeting
DESCRIPTION:The Bylaws Committee is intended to be a temporary\, but important committee in that it’s work will be to develop the organizational bylaws\, or governing document\, for Jefferson Park Forward. Additionally\, this committee will assist the directors of JPF in successfully applying for non-profit status for the IRS as well as incorporation within the State of Illinois. We will also advise JPF on any legal matters as it pertains to incorporation and tax status.\n\nWe do not plan on re-inventing the wheel in terms of governance and so we have some local examples of neighborhood bylaws to peruse and use as we see fit. Ultimately\, upon development of the bylaws and successful articles of incorporation and tax status\, we will ask our members to ratify the bylaws with designated officers of JPF so we can begin to implement our mission and vision.
