SUMMARY:Olive's Neighborhood Garden for the Hungry Annual Fundraiser
DESCRIPTION:Fellow Jeff Park Forward members\,\nOlive’s Neighborhood Garden is having its annual fundraiser on Saturday\, April 9th from 3 – 6 p.m. at Rabbit’s Bar and Grill. This a great opportunity for us to show our Jefferson Park Forward community pride by helping out with and attending this event. For those of you who don’t know\, Olive’s Neighborhood Garden is located at the corner of W. Ainslie Avenue and N. Laramie Street\, next to the Kennedy Expressway. The food grown in this garden helps feed 70-80 families a week through a food pantry located at the Northwest Church of Christ. I have volunteered at Olive’s Neighborhood Garden before\, and am simply amazed by the quantity and variety of food grown annually. If you would like to get involved with this fundraiser\, there are many ways to help: \n1) If you are a local business owner\, please consider donating an item to or placing a sign for the fundraiser in your establishment.\n2) If you know of a local business owner\, please consider asking he or she to donate an item to or place a sign for the fundraiser in their establishment.\n3) Sell raffle tickets\, and ask your friends and family members to do so as well.\n4) Spread the word!\n5) Attend the fundraiser on April 9th. SUMMARY:Bylaws Committee Meeting
DESCRIPTION:The Bylaws Committee is intended to be a temporary\, but important committee in that it’s work will be to develop the organizational bylaws\, or governing document\, for Jefferson Park Forward. Additionally\, this committee will assist the directors of JPF in successfully applying for non-profit status for the IRS as well as incorporation within the State of Illinois. We will also advise JPF on any legal matters as it pertains to incorporation and tax status.\n\nWe do not plan on re-inventing the wheel in terms of governance and so we have some local examples of neighborhood bylaws to peruse and use as we see fit. Ultimately\, upon development of the bylaws and successful articles of incorporation and tax status\, we will ask our members to ratify the bylaws with designated officers of JPF so we can begin to implement our mission and vision.

DESCRIPTION:Our first neighborhood event. We heard loud and clear at our first meeting last week that you wanted to volunteer\, to meet your neighbors\, to be part of a community. This is one way to do that. Join us at the Jefferson Park Terminal for the tree lighting. Volunteers are needed. Any and all are welcome. We’ll be passing out hot cocoa to our neighbors and commuters. \nWe will also be collecting donations and items for the New Horizon Center\, a local non-profit agency that provides education and training for children and adults with developmental disabilities and autism.
